But there is also good news: the minimum amount—that is the money parents receive at the very least—is rising from 300 to 330 euros per month. The maximum amount is rising from 1,800 to 1,900 euros. So anyone who already received a lot of parental allowance before will now get a little more.

However, the Family Ministry has to save 500 million euros next year. In 2026, the federal government will spend around 7.5 billion euros on parental allowance. That is a great deal of money, and it shows that family policy costs the state a significant amount.
